RICHARD POUSETTE-DART: BEGINNINGS
A YOUNG ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONIST IN NEW YORK
Richard Pousette-Dart, working in New York in the 1940s, created beautiful, layered paintings as well as experimenting with drawing, photography, and sculpture. He played a key role in the genesis of Abstract Expressionism and the New York School, which transformed America in the post-war years.
“With their bold colors, encrusted surfaces, and luminous orbs, his paintings don’t so much hang on the wall as float in front of it” - Roberta Smith, New York Times, 2007
The exhibition will be on view October 23, 2018 - January 6, 2019.
